MEETING MINUTES FOR ARAGBA
December 3, 2006

BOARD MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE:
Sue Niedenfuer
Sue Niedenfuer
Danni Sherva
Jenny Becker
Anne Vice
Sharon Johnson
Morris Gifford

Business:
Ann Vice is arranging the details for a girls and or family fun day to a Gopher basketball game. Anne Vice continues to work out the details of this fun event. We have 140 people signed up and tickets ordered for. We will be seated in the lower section this year. (Row 10 up to row 16)
Ann Vice will be looking into having a "Thank You" banner made for those businesses who make donations to ARAGBA. The banner will be displayed at the Anoka Tournament in January. We will have business cards available to anybody who is interested in more information about the businesses. The dead line for the banner is Dec. 21.

Other Business:
The idea of a basketball banquet was brought up again and was tabled for a future meeting. It was determined that some kind of party will take place for the girls. Details to be determined at a later date.
Gym time is scheduled and already paid for. Things do come up at the locations we have gym time and a particular time slot is taken away and rescheduled at a different time. This is not controllable. If the coach is unable to hold a practice at the allotted time and the assistant coach is unable to hold a practice at the allotted time then a parent (s) may be asked to volunteer their time to help out with a practice and run some drills and have some shooting practice.
The idea of a 4th grade traveling team was also discussed briefly. The idea was strongly recommended for next years organization. Gym time is being looked at currently for the next year.
Ideas for improving the Girls traveling organization were discussed. Was decided to invite Coach Moseman to a future meeting to discuss ideas and thoughts.

ANOKA GIRLS TRAVELING NIGHT AT THE HIGHSCHOOL:
Scheduled for Jan 5th, 2007. Each team will make a banner to display. Players should wear their shooting shirts and get into the game free. Come out and be recognized!! One of our teams will be playing during half time of the varsity game.

Anoka Tournament:
Families are required to work 4 hours per child (player) at the Anoka Tournament. This may be score keeping, taking money at the door, working concessions or other activities. Parents, to get your $75.00 back you must put in your time. Look for the parent work schedule to be out one week prior to the tournament. We need to have brackets made so you are not scheduled during your daughters game. Please be patient!
We have a total of 33 teams plus our 6 Anoka teams scheduled so far. 45 is our goal. There are 6 other tournaments in the metro also scheduled for this weekend, making it difficult to get more teams involved, although we are still pursuing more teams.
There will be some fund raising tables at the Anoka Tournament and a silent auction of some Lynx tickets. Finalizing of the tables will be at the next meeting. We will be charging businesses $25.00 to have a table at the tournament.

St. Cloud Tournament:
Sharon has been working very hard at finding us rooms for the St. Cloud Tournament and so far has been unsuccessful. Rooms were supposed to be reserved last year and were not, so we have not been able to obtain any rooms. St. Cloud Tournament may be canceled and changed to another out of town tourney. Stay tuned for an update.

Meeting adjourned.

Next 2 meetings are Sunday, January 7th and January 21st , 2007 - 7:00 p.m. at Doolittles. All are welcome to attend.

Aragba secretary

   7A 6:30pm
   8A 6:40pm
   6B 6:50pm

Please be patient, the shooting shirts are currently on back order and hopefully they will be here soon.
We will be exploring options to ensure the shooting shirts are delivered on time next year before the first game.
Sharron Johnson is making sure all coaches and assistant coaches get a shirt.
Ann Vice is arranging the details for a girls and or family fun day to a Gopher basketball game. Watch for a flyer. Mike P. and Ann V. are arranging for busses and tickets. A great time was had by all last year! This is a fun experience for the girls!
Ann Vice will be looking into having a "Thank You" banner made for those businesses who make donations to ARAGBA. The banner will be displayed at the Anoka Tournament in January. We will have business cards available to anybody who is interested in more information about the businesses. They are trying to have the banner completed by December 15, 2006.

Other Business:
Many new ideas were brought up by our guests and the board will be considering them.
Asking if Coach Moseman would be interested in holding basketball clinics through out the year to help build basketball skills and charging a small fee for these events.
Having open gym time on Saturdays.
Providing pamphlets for the coaches on available tournaments and their openings for teams.
Sue Niedenfuer to check in on inhouse teams and coaches and increase our dialogue and get more talented girls out for traveling basketball.
Morris Gifford brought up too little gym time and he mentioned there has not been adequate gym time available for the teams. Danny Sherva stated that gym time would be improving as time goes on
Gym time was arranged last year for this season so there are some limitations. We will check into elementary schools for next year. Please be patient.
It has also been brought to our attention that accusations have been made that "we do not have a very good board". The board has 4 new members this season and we are doing our best to represent every ones interest fairly. If you have concerns or issues you feel need to be addressed, please feel free to attend a meeting. Please keep in mind we are all volunteers and parents of players. We all have a common goal in doing what is best for the organization.
We look forward to getting some new volunteers on the board; there will be a some board positions opening in the spring.

Anoka Tournament:
Families are required to work 4 hours per child (player) at the Anoka Tournament. This may be score keeping, taking money at the door, working concessions or other activities. Parents, to get your $75.00 back you must put in your time.
We have a total of 35 teams (including our teams) scheduled so far. 45 is our goal. There are 6 other tournaments in the metro also scheduled for this weekend, making it difficult to get more teams involved, although we are still pursuing more teams.
The board will be considering some fund raising tables to be allowed at the tournaments. Maybe a silent auction? Businesses will be charged to have a table. Discussion will take place at next board meeting regarding this issue.

Tournament Director Report:
There was much discussion on "When is an 'A' team classified as an 'A' team and play in 'A' brackets. This is a coaches decision. Coaches, if you feel your team is not an 'A' or 'B' team please let Mike Pipenhagen know of your concern so they can be placed in the right brackets.
St. Cloud tournament information to be coming out soon.

Meeting adjourned.

Next meeting is Sunday, December 3, 2006 - 7:00 p.m. at Doolittles. All are welcome to attend.

October 1, 2006

BOARD MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE:
Sue Niedenfuer
Danni Sherva
Jenny Becker
Anne Vice
Scott Bovy
Sharon Johnson
Mike Pipenhagen

Visitors:
None

Business:
Board members felt tryouts went well except for being a little short on time for the large number of 5th graders. A goal for next year is to have all coaches in place prior to tryouts. Registration forms for next year will also read that participants must live in the Anoka High School Attendance boundries.
Board members also discussed the idea of changing the by-laws in order to allow a 4th grader to bump a 5th grader. It was decided that currently 4th graders are there to fill an empty spot on a B team and that changing the by-laws was not an option now. May consider developing a 4th grade traveling team next year. Will have to consider gym time and registration fee depending on how many 4th grade level teams are out there. This idea has been tabled until spring.
Ann Vice will be checking in to colored posters being made to thank businesses for their donations and support for tournaments.
Team and individual picture arrangements are being made by Jenny Becker and Danni Sherva. Pictures to be done by "Photo Guy."
Information will be passed out in January on board openings for next year.
ALL REGISTRATION FEES SHOULD BE PAYED UNLESS A HARDSHIP FORM HAS BEEN FILLED OUT OR NO PLAY TIME!
