Meeting minutes for ARAGBA
December 2nd, 2007
Board members in attendance:
Sue Niedenfuer, Jenny Becker, Anne Vice, Gia Gunerius and Sharon Johnson, Leah Fredenburg, Morris Gifford and Nancee Bray
VISITORS: Coach Moseman
Business:
Anoka Youth Night is December 14. Players are to wear their uniform to get in free and be at the High School by 6:30pm. Jenny Becker
will be notifying the coaches to let the girls know. Coach Moseman is working on half time entertainment for the game.
It was decided that for next years Anoka Tournament that the Tournament Director and the gym time coordinator will work together to
assign the gym time. Leah will write up the wording for this piece of the by-law and the Board will vote on it next meeting.
Leah and Nancee have been busy getting the Anoka Tornado Classic Basketball Tournament organized. Leah has 46 teams registered so far.
Because the baseball team has the High School reserved for something Leah and Nancy have been looking into some other gym options for
our tournament. There will be some fund raising tables at the tournament. Some ideas that were brought forth included selling pre-wrap,
t-shirts and jewelry. Parent volunteers will be scheduled to work at some of these tables. Every parent will need to work at the
tournament. Hours to be determined as Ann is currently working on a schedule for the tournament . Ann will also be getting the food
license for concessions. Nancee is also working on securing referees and possibly working with a different supply company for these
referees. Sue has been working with Heidi B. and they are getting the trainers all lined up for the games. Morris will be getting
the ice packs for all the first aide kits.
The girls are selling raffle tickets for a fundraising for ARAGBA. We are raffling off 2 $50.00 gas cards and one IPOD Shuffle
which were donated to the Organization. The girls are asked to sell at least 5 tickets at $1.00 a piece to get their name in a
drawing for a target gift card. When a girl turns in their money and has sold all five tickets they will also be issued a Jimmy
Johns sandwich card. If girls need more tickets they are to see Leah from the 6A team.
ARAGBA is trying to put together a Banquet Committee. Any parents that have good planning skills and are organized and like
working in a group should notify Leah Fredenburg. You will be responsible for soliciting prizes for the girls, securing a
location, organizing the food and obtaining the speakers.
The Board unanimously passed the decision to purchase a computer program that would align the brackets for the Tournament.
The Duluth Tournament was discussed and it was decided that is was a nice Tournament and every one had fun but that is was a
very expensive weekend. We will be looking at visiting Brainerd or Eau Claire next season.
Sue is composing a letter corresponding to the Andover Board regarding last years Tournament.
Gia presented the financial report. Gia also presented payment plans that have not been payed and letters that need to be
sent to these individuals. These players are strongly encouraged to sell all the Mansetties cards.
Additional items:
It was brought to the Boards attention that there have been teams playing up and teams that want to play up a grade level at
tournaments. It was decided that ARGBA would rather not have this take place as there would be no benefit to the organization
by having a grade play up at any tournaments that would cause our own teams to compete against one another within a given
bracket. It was decided that if a team wants to play up, they should be in a different tournament if it would cause potential
for any 2 ARGBA teams to compete against one another. Jenny will be composing the words for this new addition to the Bylaws
for the Board to vote on at the next meeting. Free tournaments will be offered at the appropriate grade level first and then
if they decline any team may take the opportunity to play in that tournament.
Meeting adjourned.
Next meeting is Sunday, January 6th, 2007 - 7:00 p.m. at Mansetties in Anoka. All are welcome to attend.

Meeting minutes for ARAGBA
October 7th, 2007
Board members in attendance:
Sue Niedenfuer, Jenny Becker, Anne Vice, Gia Gunerius and Sharon Johnson, Leah Fredenburg and Danni Sherva
VISITORS: Vonda Essig, Dee Guthman, Nancee Bray, Sharon Mantey, Paul Fitzgerald, Cindy Hippe
Business:
A total of 70 girls tried out this year to the Anoka Ramsey Girls Traveling Basketball Association. Unfortunately we had to
cut two 8th graders. All the necessary requirements have been made and paper work filled out for all the girls to play.
Tryouts were held late this year which will be changed in the up coming year. Due to the late tryouts this year, Leah has
been having great difficulty getting our girls into tournaments. A lot of these tournaments are filled. Leah will continue
to work on this issue. Tryouts may be changed to a week night and one weekend for next season. It was felt that tryouts
were much more efficient this year. All equipment has now been handed out.
Unfortunately due to the Anoka Booster tournament being held the same weekend as the Andover Tournament we were not
able to send all our teams last year. The Andover Board has made a decision not to send any of their teams to our Anoka
Tournament. Much discussion was held on this topic and it was decided that we need to support our own programs before
other programs. Leah and Sue will continue to work on this issue and discuss it with Coach Moseman.
Leah has been working very hard to get teams lined up to come to our tournament and has been having a difficult time. There
are a lot of tournaments at this time of the year. Leah stated that a lot of teams do not want to come to our tournament
due to the fact that "there is not enough competition in the northern suburbs". So far 45 teams have declined to come
to our tournament.
Including a lot of local organizations that have attended the Anoka tournament in past years. We do have 23 teams registered
to play so far. Leah will continue to work on this issue. The Board has had much discussion in regards to changing the
Tournament date for next season. This will be tabled for a later date.
Sharon reported how the cub foods grocery bagging fundraiser went. She stated that it went well and we will be doing it
again in the future following Christmas. Watch the website for info. The girls may possibly bag for longer timeframes and
over 2 days. Everyone commented on how sweet the girls were. They did a great job!!! They do need to remember to make
the bags not quite so heavy next time!
October gym time has been completed and scheduling went well. There are even extra gym times offered for the girls to
practice. Dani is currently finishing November scheduling.
Additional items:
The new position of "Assistant Tournament Director" was filled. We had 6 candidates apply and all were very qualified
for the job. The Board voted and Nancee Bray was elected to the position. Please remember we will have 2 more positions
available in the spring.
Meeting adjourned.
Next meeting is Sunday, November 4th, 2007 - 7:00 p.m. at Mansetties in Anoka. All are welcome to attend.

Other Business:
The idea of working at the Dome was presented by Dannie Sherva. It was decided that this option will be presented

players to earn some of the money they pay at registration back. If a player sells 10 cards they can earn up to
$200 back from registration.

Organizations finances are at that time. Morris will be taking inventory of all the uniforms to see where the
need is for new ones. Obviously we will need some new uniforms for the incoming 4th graders.
The Board unanimously approved a cash donation to the Anoka High School Girls Basketball Organization. The Board also
approved a gift certificate for Mike Thompson for working so hard on the web site. He currently does not have a
daughter in the program but does continue to be our webmaster. Thank you Mike!
The board discussed adding another board position which would be an Assistant Tournament Director. This idea was
tabled until September. It was felt that the position needed to be posted on the web for public information.
Therefore giving everybody an opportunity to apply for the position. Another idea was also brought up: having a
group of parents involved with a "parent committee" for the Anoka Classic Tournament. The Board will also be
changing the name of the current Assistant Tourney Director at a later date. This position is currently held by
Ann Vice.
The dates have been set for the 2007 tryouts this fall. There will be two tryout dates this year giving everyone

to remind every body that there will be more Board positions open next Spring.

decided to form a subcommittee to meet and discuss the bylaws. They would then bring them before the Board and the

Meeting adjourned.

basketball banquet. They have been working very hard and have most details worked
out. The banquet will be on March 22 from 6-8:30pm at Lord OF Life Church in the
Atrium. A group of volunteer parents will be doing the set up and decorating.
Coaches have been asked to introduce the team members and a short speech about
how the girls have done through out the year. Unfortunately Coach Moseman will
not be available to host the banquet but he will hopefully be sending a 9th grade
coach and assistant coach to talk. Leah and Gia have also been busy trying to
collect prizes for the girls.
There will be a fee for the banquet this year. $5.00 per adult and $3.00 per child.
Players will be free as well as coaches and their families. Place your order with
your child’s coach.
Cub chicken will be provided and the rest of the food and drink will include pot

any ideas for the evaluation. The Board will then review them and make changes
where necessary.
New Board Members:
There will be 2 Board positions opening up in April. Positions include Treasurer

at that time. Jenny Becker will be typing up an informational letter to pass out
to the parents at the Banquet.

Jenny Becker will call the Holiday Inn in St Cloud to reserve rooms for next
years tournament. She will try and reserve 65 rooms so the whole organization
can stay together. The Board also discussed attending a Duluth Tournament early
in the season so the parents as well as the team members could get to know one
another. This may or may not be in place of the St. Cloud Tournament. More
discussion to follow at future Board meetings.

Meeting minutes for ARAGBA
February 11, 2007
Board members in attendance:
Sue Niedenfuer, Danni Sherva, Jenny Becker, Ann Vice, Scott Bovey, Sharon Johnson, Morris Giggord, Mike Pipenhagen
VISITORS: Leah Fredenburg, Gia Gunerius
Anoka Classic Tournament:
A big "Thank You" goes out to the Anoka High School girls for volunteering and helping us out. We
made a profit and did better than last year. Thank you to all who helped out and made it a success.
Banquet:
The board is looking at holding a girls basketball banquet the
week following the State Tournaments. Sue Niedenfuer is to check the school
calendar and see what dates would work. 5A parents, Leah and Gia will work
with her on the banquet and organizing it. There will be a charge per family
which will be determined at the next meeting. Each particular team will be
responsible to bring something for the banquet (again to be determined at
the next board meeting). Sue, Leah and Gia will be looking for parent
volunteers to help out. We are also looking for raffle ideas (possibly from
Raghead). They will also be contacting Coach Moseman to host the banquet.
Other Business:
Playing Time: There has been an issue brought to the boards attention
regarding the 5A team and playing time. All players get equal playing time
unless the player is not attending the practice. Parents need to notify the
coach if they are missing practice and what the reason is. Parents also
need to talk to the coach and/or write a formal complaint and send it to the
board. Please refer to the bylaws.
Bylaws Amendment: It was discussed with the board that the bylaws did
not cover Board Members conduct/actions/confidentiality. A motion was made
by Sue Niedenfuer that the bylaws be amended under 6.0 Terms of Membership
to include: Any Board Member demonstrating inappropriate behavior (ie:
conduct, actions, or verbal discussion of confidential information outside
of Board Meetings) will be given one verbal warning from the Board. If the
behavior continues the Board will terminate his/her position on the Board.
He/she would not be allowed back on the Board for 3 years. The Board voted
and passed the amendment unanimously.
Meeting adjourned.

Meeting minutes for ARAGBA TORNADO CLASSIC TOURNAMENT
January 21, 2007
Board members in attendance:
Sue Niedenfuer, Danni Sherva, Jenny Becker, Anne Vice, Scott Bovey, Morris Gifford, Sharon Johnson
Anoka Tournament: January 27th-28th, 2007
There will be some fund raising tables at the Anoka Tournament. We will be charging businesses to
have a table at the tournament. Velocity Sports, Strich Design and DECCA from the High School will have
a table at the tournament. No charge to DECCA.
Board members will be present at the tournament. Ann Vice has put together a schedule for working the
tournament. We will start setting up on Friday night at 9:00pm and be back at the High school at 7:00am
Saturday and Sunday.
Ann is working on getting supplies for the concession stand at the best prices. Ann has gotten most of
the supplies at Costco and Sams. Cub has also donated and Mansetties pizza will be contacted to provide
pizza for Saturday at lunch only. They will be just cheese pizzas as meat is no longer allowed by law
for this type of activity. Hotdogs have been purchased as well as cookie dough and pop.
Members of the Anoka girls high school basketball team will be running the clocks and books. Their
schedule will be determined by coach Moseman.
Morris informed the board that every thing is ready and that the trophies will be delivered to the
High School on Sunday morning.
Sharon Johnson has done a great job collecting donations for the tournament.
St. Cloud Tournament:
SSharon has been working very hard at finding us rooms for the St. Cloud Tournament and has been
successful!! Sharon started working on this in October. We learned rooms were supposed to be
reserved last year and were not. Sharon has found Hotels for all teams attending. 8A found their
own rooms. 5A will be going to Mankato and 5B will be going to Princeton. 28 rooms have been
reserved. All rooms that have not been reserved will be released as of Tuesday January 23.
State Tournament:
Coaches need to get all paperwork, information and payment in by January 26th.
Other Business:
We have also been asked that all parents consider a 24 hour cooling off period that should be
followed when there is an issue between a parent/player and a coach. The coach should not be
approached at a tournament where there is a lot of people around. Please wait 24 hours and then
sit down and discuss the issue with the coach in a calm and rational manner. The board places a
lot of trust and respect in the coaches and realize that they have a difficult job and that there
is a lot going on at the time of a tournament and sometimes it is difficult to keep track of
everything. (See section 9.03,5 of the bylaws on our home page)
Uniform replacement was brought up and tabled for the future.
Possibility of 3 on 3 tourney as a fund raiser for the fall was brought up and discussed and was
decided to table for a future meeting.
Meeting adjourned.
Next meeting is Sunday, February 11th , 2007 - 7:00 p.m. at Doolittles. All are welcome to attend.

Business:
Ann Vice is arranged the details for a girls and or family fun day to a Gopher basketball game on Sunday Jan.
21st. We have 140 people signed up and there are 3 buses going. Coaches should arrive at 12:00pm to get the
team tickets from Ann. Buses will leave the parking lot at 12:30pm and return at about 4:30pm or 5:00pm.
Other Business:
Visitors brought up the issue of playing time and what is fair. There is a policy on this topic and it is
covered in the bylaws. (See section 9.03 of the bylaws on our home page)
Basically If the players effort is not there, a player has a bad attitude, shows the coaches or players
disrespect, or players are not attending practice, then they may not have equal playing time during a
game or tournament. It will be at the coaches discretion as to how much playing time the player will
receive. Registration money does not guarantee playing time, players are still expected To be "team" players and
Show good sportsmanship at all times.
We have also been asked that all parents consider a 24 hour cooling off period that should be followed when
there is an issue between a parent/player and a coach. The coach should not be approached at a tournament
where there is a lot of people around. Please wait 24 hours and then sit down and discuss the issue with
the coach in a calm and rational manner. The board places a lot of trust and respect in the coaches and
realize that they have a difficult job and that there is a lot going on at the time of a tournament and
sometimes it is difficult to keep track of everything. (See section 9.03,5 of the bylaws on our home page)
Anoka Tournament:
Families are required to work 4 hours per child (player) at the Anoka Tournament. This may be score keeping,
taking money at the door, working concessions or other activities. Parents, to get your $75.00 back you must
put in your time. Schedules have been passed around at the tam practices. Please sign up or you will be placed
at a time. Heidi Beckendorf will be working on the tournament schedule.
We have a total of 46 teams. There are 6 other tournaments in the metro also scheduled for this weekend. Each
team will have a minimum of 3 games each and brackets are completed and on our website.
There will be some fund raising tables at the Anoka Tournament and a silent auction for some Lynx tickets.
Finalizing of the tables will be at the next meeting. We will be charging businesses $25.00 to have a table
at the tournament. Velocity Sports, Strich Design and possibly one more business will have a table at the tournament.
Board members will be at the tournament Sat 7am-9pm and Sun 7am-6pm. We will be looking at splitting up the time so we
all do not have to be there the entire time both days.
Ann is working on getting supplies for the concession stand at the best prices.
Members of the Anoka girls high school basketball team will be running the clocks and books.
St. Cloud Tournament:
Sharon has been working very hard at finding us rooms for the St. Cloud Tournament and has been successful!!
Sharon started working on this in October. We learned rooms were supposed to be reserved last year and were
not. Sharon has found Hotels for all teams attending. 8A found their own rooms. 5A will be going to Mankato
and 5B will be going to Princeton.
