Business:
Sue Niedenfuer welcomed all parents to the board meeting and board members gave a brief statement about successes and /or challenges
they had encountered this past year.
Sue (President)- Another successful year with paid non-parent coaches at the 7th and 8th grade level. It was felt that this
was very beneficial for the girls. Sue also researched other organizations’ code of conducts and drew up ARAGBA’s current
code and it was approved by the Board.
Sharon (Vice President)- Fund raising went well this past year. We were unable to bag groceries again after Christmas because
the weekends that were open with cub were tournament weekends.
Jenny (Secretary)- Informed parents that the Organization got its first check for everyone clicking on the advertisements on
the web. Keep clicking! Also the Duluth Tournament was a success and plans are being made for next years out of Metro tourney.
Morris (Tryout/Equipment Director)-Tryouts went well with the volunteers that were arranged for scoring. With the fundraising
this year we will hopefully be ordering some new uniforms for next year.
Anne (Concession Coordinator)- Concessions went well and the schedule for parents working was a bit challenging but will be
worked on for next year.
Dani (Gym Time Coordinator)- Assigning gym time went well this year and all teams had adequate gym time to practice.
Leah (Tournament Director)- Anoka Tornado Classic Tournament was very successful this year. T-shirt sales and sucker sales
went very well. Everybody heard positive feedback regarding the tournament.
Nancee (Assistant Tournament Director)- Able to help Leah out a lot with tournament jobs and also felt the tournament went well.
Gia (Treasure)- Reported on the income of the tournament and the breakdown of expenditures.
Sue reported that the bylaws were written in 1998 by a lawyer and approved by MYAS. ARAGBA will adhere to the current
bylaws which were adopted and approved by the Board in August for the entire season. Sue suggested that in her research
she found that other associations review their By-Laws annually. There for any addendums to ARAGBA By-laws will be discussed
once the new board members are in place.
Free tournaments are to be discussed with the Board. There were a lot of free tournaments offered this season due to the saturation
in the amount of organizations hosting basketball tournaments. Any further free tournaments must be brought to the Board for
approval for the remainder of this season. Once the new board is in place it will decide how to handle free tournaments for
the next season.
The Board has decided to only put team photo’s on the web. No individual
photo’s or last names are to be with the pictures. Mike Thompson, the web guy will be informed of this decision.
Leah has recruited Sherri Ruf to be in charge of the banquet this spring. The banquet will be on Thursday March 13th at
Fred Moore. Pizza and root beer floats will be served. There will hopefully be a coaches game and some contests for the
girls. Volunteers are needed to search out prizes and offer ideas for games. Anyone able to do so should contact Sheri
Ruf at chiroruf@aol.com .
There will be two positions opening up this spring as Sue Niedenfuer and Sharon Johnson both have daughters that will
be entering the 9th grade. The posted positions will be: President and Vice President. A letter of intent should be
submitted no later than March 1st for any parent that is interested.
Other Business:
Some of the parents voiced concern regarding players having to pay the Organization fee if their parent is coaching.
It was felt that coaches put a lot of time in during the season so the fee should be waived for that player.
It was explained to the parents present at the Board meeting that it has been requested that the ARAGBA Organization pay
$200.00 to the boys baseball organization for using the gym on Sunday for our Tournament.
Dani requested we look into adding the 9th grade to the tournament next year. This will be looked into for the next season.
Instructed the parents that the Board will be sitting down in August to discuss tournaments for the next season after the
MYAS Tournament Book comes out.
Everyone reminded that all letters of intent are to be to Sue Niedenfuer no later than March 1st.
All applicants to be present at the March 2nd Board Meeting to be interviewed.
Board will gather to vote on April 6th. Board member will call applicants with results.
Results will posted on the web by noon the following day if possible.
Meeting adjourned.
Next meeting is Sunday, March 2nd, 2008 - 7:00 p.m. at Mansetties in Anoka. All are welcome to attend.
